Blow Off Valves
As the name suggests, a Blow Off, or Dump Valve, is a mechanical valve that dumps boost pressure that is trapped between the throttle flap and compressor wheel of the turbocharger. This pressure is created when the throttle is shut off momentarily between gear changes and deceleration. Designed and developed in the early eighties by German Engineers to reduce lag on early Turbocharged rally cars, this simple but very effective method has evolved into much more than just a simple plastic disposable Diaphragm Valve.
As vehicle technology has evolved so has Dump Valve technology. They are widely known in Europe as Dump Valves, but in America they are also known as Blow Off or Diverter Valves. The UK is widely regarded as market leaders in Dump Valve innovation, with such developments as Piston Valves, and Fabric reinforced Diaphragms. Years of research have brought about twin piston valves that are designed to prevent engines with Mass Air Flow meters from stalling when stored boost pressure is released.
Samco Sport has designed and manufactured a range of twin piston valves to prevent this from happening. The Plastic type Diaphragm Dump Valves which are fitted to many European performance automobiles, are prone to Diaphragm failure with only relatively low mileage.
Samco Sport has now introduced it's new range of Piston type and Viton Fabric Reinforced Diaphragm Valves, which have under gone stringent quality testing on our in house computer controlled Dump Valve Test Rig. These valves are designed in the U.K. and manufactured on state of the art CNC machines. They only use Premium quality Aerospace grade 6061 T6 Aluminum that ensures optimum performance from every valve.
All internal springs and external fixings are manufactured from 316 Stainless Steel to prevent corrosion. Fitting kits are available for all valves in the Samco Sport range. The New Samco Sport range of Dump valves are finished in three durable colors, Samco Blue, Stealth Black or Ultra Silver. All valves are engraved with the Samco Sport Logo to enhance style, and prevent imitation.
